LIFESTREAM AND ITS BEGINNINGS

LifeStream, Inc., formerly New Bedford Harbor Services Inc., provides a wide range of human services that enrich the lives and productivity of people throughout southeastern Massachusetts and Cape Cod. Based in New Bedford, LifeStream is a non-profit organization with 30 years experience in assisting community residents with:

• Community Residential Supports
• Day Support Services
• Employment & Training

Founded in 1976 as New Bedford Harbor Services by parents of handicapped children, the organization originally offered community based services where none existed. Today, LifeStream is an integral part of the community with substantial funding support from the MA Department of Mental Retardation, MA Rehabilitation Commission, MA Department of Medical Assistance, Department of Transitional Assistance and other sources. LifeStream is a caring, critical link between its consumers and the business community and is one of the area's largest employers with over 400 full and part time employees.

LifeStream is licensed by: CARF, the Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission, the MA Department of Mental Retardation, and applicable local regulations. Our service area includes Southeastern Massachusetts. We are a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization licensed in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
